oh the pace...

We made it to Naples and the weather couldn't be better. Kate still loves the breeze and has been quite a peach in her sunglasses. Over the past three days we have been walking, been to an art fair on 5th Avenue, been to a band concert in the park with Gramsy and Granddaddy (Karen and Jim), been to Tommy Bahamas, been swimming with Grandpa, Grandma, and Great Grandma (Bob, Susan, and Lorle), been to brunch at the "club" and the list continues. Life is grand...so long as there is a breeze!

Channeling Mother Theresa?

Maybe not holier than thou...(she is my daughter afterall), but she sure is good! We had our first spring-like day today, and it was nice after the flooding earlier this week. The first softball scrimmage was tonight (DC won 3-1). Kate had fun watching the "sea of red" at the game. It wore her out though -- she retired after her bath and couldn't even finish her bottle! I forsee more nights like that in our future!

Lazy Sunday

This past week was my first week back "on the job." Lots of trial and error with routine around here. I must say we were all happy when Friday afternoon rolled around! Kate is attempting to roll over. So far, her arms just get in the way. The obsession with the hands still continues.
Cousin Katie sent her namesake this little outfit. Thanks, Katie! Many compliments on it! Sorry that Kate looks surprised in the picture -- it was the best we could do.

While showing Matt pictures from Florida, this one appeared of mom and Kate on 12th avenue in Naples. I was preparing him for the effects of humidity on Kate's hair. He couldn't get past her expression. At least she is in a pink dress! The title is Matt's.

we're on our way...

Travel to Florida was not easy.  With a 6 a.m. flight, we left the big O at 4.  Once at the airport, my mom stayed with the 4 bags and car seat inside while I went to park the car and brought Kate in (we have 2 car seats).  When I got inside, we were informed that we would not be able to take our flight because our luggage would not make it on because we were too late for it to be loaded.  HUH?  The attendant was kind enough to tell us that IF my mom had begun the process when we got there, we could have taken it.  "I saw you standing there,"  the gal said.  WHO SAID CUSTOMER SERVICE CAME WITH A SMILE??

So...we waited for the 10 a.m. flight at the airport.  Kate needed a nap, so the table in the diner allowed that -- and allowed us to have breakfast.  Soon, (well, not really), we boarded and all was on plan.  We even got to sit in First Class from Atlanta to Ft. Myers because of overbooking.  Kate will never be a coach flyer, she said.  When she had one fuss, the flight attendant came over, picked her up, and took her to the galley where she was entertained by the other attendants.  THAT, my friends, is customer service!

Kate has come down with a little bug, so she is on pedialyte for a couple of days.  It has not cramped her style at all other than a few more naps.  She as been great in her stroller and a very happy baby 90% of the time.  We even ventured to the pool today for a little swim -- and she loved it.

 

The Entertainment Business

We have finally reached a milestone in the entertainment industry! Kate is learning that her hands are amazing. Not only can they change shape...there are two of them...and they can go up to the ring finger into her mouth without gagging.

There was a "sip 'n see" party for Kate on Sunday (Thanks, Mel and Sara). Many gals came to see Kate and hold her, too. She was a party girl, but it took a toll on her -- she slept from 9 p.m. until 8 a.m.. I am thinking we will have to do that more often!!

Although still a little young for the Bumbo seat (she has almost full control of her head, but I think it has to hurt to hold it up for a long time), Kate does enjoy sitting up and this is her first time to play with her new toy. Amazing that less than three months ago the only thing she could do was scratch her face with her hands. Now she is grabbing objects and learning to play alone. That makes mommy happy, too!

We leave for Florida on Saturday. Wish us luck on the flights. I am sure you all know what I am talking about!
