Easter at the Club

31 March 2013

We went to the Country Club of Naples' first easter egg hunt.  Kate was so excited even though we saw them throwing the Cadbury eggs on the putting green as we walked in.  With a little time to spare, Kate and Jack were able to chat with the Easter Bunny.  Kate knew it wasn't the "real" Easter bunny because he had on tennis shoes and she could see the zipper.  Smart kid.  For some reason, Jack does not share my fear of mascots.  In fact, he is quite interested in seeing them and touching them.

We were able to take a few shots of the family as well.

Kate eagerly waiting for the hunt to begin.
 And she's off!

Jack needed to see the EB once again.
Cadbury eggs!  Kate gathered about 40.

When we returned we logged in a couple of hours at the pool.  Kate is excited that we are here for two weeks.

Happy Easter, Condo Style

The Easter Bunny did not forget Kate and Jack.  They awakened to baskets full of goodies at our condo.  A new kickboard, goggles, cars, light-up sticks, and a jump rope were among the treats.
Thirty minutes later, we received a message to come to the "other" condo, where the parents are, because the Easter Bunny had been there, too.  In the form of eggs.
Kate began telling grandma and grandpa all about her treats as soon as she walked in.  She didn't even notice the eggs outside.
Jack immediately went to the lanai and pushed chairs around.  That's Jack.
We went downstairs and found 47! eggs.  Most were filled with money that we took to "The Best of Everything" jewelry store to make purchases of sequined bows, a necklace, a bracelet, and I can't remember what else.  Treasure.

Jack and Matt watched Kate run from place to place.

When it was over, the money was counted, the candy emptied, and the eggs stored away for another year.

Thank you, Easter Bunny!

Naples Vacay

30 March 2013

When we first arrived in Naples, it was a little chilly.  By chilly I mean the kids were in long sleeves some of the time.  That didn't last long, and it sure didn't stop our activities.
These two are READY for vacation.
Dad and Susan borrowed toys from some of their friends for Jack to play with.  Kate brought some Barbies and we always have the iPad, but I don't think it has been out other than to watch part of a movie.
The pool noodle doubles as a toy when inside.
And then there is Jack.  My little ham.  He is very happy with the new toys and he isn't afraid to show it.

Mulan was on ABCFamily, so Kate snuggled in and watched it with Grandpa.  No need to acclimate herself to him again...just right in, explaining about the Chinese warrior.

25 March 2013

Some days are better than others, weather-wise, so we take advantage of the sunshine.  Bundling up and heading out, we try to walk with Drake and then get a few swings in before the wind makes us come back inside and thaw out.

"Look, mama, no hands!"
My little girl has become a big girl before my eyes.  She is learning new tricks on the swingset and many of her inhibitions from last year are no longer there.  She is confident in her footing and can swing as high as I can.  She still loves a good push though, don't get me wrong!
Jack loves to mess with Kate.  Actually, he loves to mess with anyone that is within reach.  All we have to do is lay down on the floor and he is ready to roll all over us.  It doesn't last long and he soon goes about his way, but he just wants to make contact.
Jack is a snacker.  That is how he takes his meals -- 10 a day.  Sometimes, eating Goldfish gets tiring.  Notice the one in his right hand.
We are working Jack holding his own bottle.  Though he should be off bottles now, he will not do a sippy cup and I don't currently have the effort to fight it.  Maybe that is because I am 40, maybe it is because I know it will happen one day.  I don't care.
Jack helps make lattes, too.
"Out of my window looking in the driveway, I can see the animals begging to come in." Something like Barges, maybe?

Silly girl playing with Silly Putty.
A body to love.
Again...another snow shower.  Kate wanted to play.  It wasn't sticking, and Drake was glad to have a ball-thrower.
Jack continued ransacking the kitchen while Kate was outside.  Didn't miss a beat.

Three days later, this was the morning.  Nice weather, and some time outside.  Matt was giving my bike a test ride with Jack.  Jack wasn't sure what to think, but I think he will be ok with a few more trips.

An action shot of Drake chasing his ball.
Kate took the time outside to enjoy her bubbles.
Jack suckered Mom into letting him play on her iPhone.  He knows to move his fingers around and he is able to switch screens, but soon after, it goes in his mouth so he cannot use it on his own.  Yet.

Jack also grunted that he wanted some of her Diet Coke.

On Wednesdays, I like to pick Kate up at school and have "girl time" before we pick Jack up from the sitter.  Sometimes we have to go to the Grocery or a couple of other errands, but most of the time, we are able to "chat" about her day and what is going on.  It is sweeter when we can get Frozen Yogurt, of course!
The weekend of my birthday brought about some really nice weather, so we took advantage of it and headed to the fun park with some of Kate's friends.  First we took a walk with Drake, so he could get out.  Such a nice thing, and so nice to know this will be our summer plans.

Matt threw a surprise party for me with my mom.  It was a great time, and I really appreciate his doing this.  When we got home, Kate was still awake (surprise) and she helped me open my gifts and decided to wear my hat, too.
The next morning, Kate and I went to Waffle House for a girl breakfast.  Actually Matt had already eaten and I was too lazy to make waffles.
AND the next day, which was my real birthday, we went to Waffle House again.  Kate had her magic wand in her purse (duh) and she was casting a spell on Matt.

During our trip to the pulmonologist, we saw the Easter bunny.  I can't believe how old my kids are.  And how good they are with all things holiday.
Kate has recently enjoyed her hair straight.  And the bangs?  She did those herself.  After asking why she cut them, she told me because they were hanging out of her tiara.  What could I say then?
The Naked Chef is still cooking up fun in Kate's pink kitchen.  I have to tighten the screws weekly as he likes to slam the doors on the cabinets.  Total boy.  I am not even worried that it is a pink kitchen.
Yep...hot stuff.  Great hair.
The crop sprayer came by and Kate wanted to sit in it.
Sweet boys.

And then THIS.  MORE SNOW.  Is it spring yet??????
