lake vs. pool

23 July 2009

So, Kate is suited up, but as you can see from her face, she would prefer to be on a boat!
If she can't be on a boat, she is at least glad she has a pool to play in.

color my world

Kate has taken to coloring. Washable crayons, though a great concept, lack the ability to stay "solid" if put in ...say...a mouth or ... dragged through condensation from a beverage. Due to this, coloring happens on the granite porch table where all messes quickly can be erased. We spend most mornings, afternoons, and evenings on the back porch (which is now, basically, Kate's playroom). The unexpected July weather temps have allowed for this to be a great option. I am almost happy to be living in Kentucky this summer!

draker, draker

07 July 2009

One day, when Amy and Craig were here, they took their dog (Jet) on the boat when we decided to leave Drake at the cabin. Not wanting to ever have that happen again, Drake now lines up to head out the screen door when he sees anyone carrying towels toward the dock. He spends his time keeping watch over most people while out there. Watchdog at his best!

the mad hatter

Papa got Kate a new hat at the Pines. I don't think it was his intention but more that Kate would not take it off after we told her how cute she was in it. It is now day two and Kate has been sporting it in the boat (yea because of the sun) and in the car. I have even been sporting mine because of a red nose.

learning shuffleboard at GVL

04 July 2009

There's a new store at Grand View that I had to check out (great store). While there, the boys and Kate were not too into shopping so they went outside to play a little shuffleboard. I don't know who won.

good friends are hard to find

It was not the warmest boating day on the lake, but we HAD to get out to see what was going on. After a yummy lunch at Bar Harbor, we cruised the lake -- even removing layers until we were down to our bathing suits. FINALLY! Kate loved the boat again, which was no surprise. Jet, Amy and Craig's dog, loved watching out for Kate. Good thing!

Paul Bunyan Bowl

29 June 2009

Because the weather has not been the best (20-30 mph winds), we went family bowling today. Kate got the chance to bowl some of the time. Here she is bowling for Amy. Jeremy is helping her with placement and speed. Notice the fact that only 2 pins are left. Kate got 2 spares and 6 pins in her bowls. She rocked.

child-friendly seating

Amy was getting stuff out for lunch (not very quickly I might add), and Kate took the opportunity to take a seat. Good thing we have a fridge where the freezer is on the bottom or we would be in trouble!

taking lessons

Before Amy and Craig arrived, we decided sidewalk chalk "welcome" signs for them. Kate gave the art lesson.

a new placemat

28 June 2009

Grandpa and Grandma knew the way to Kate's heart...a Sesame Street placemat from the dollar bins at Target! She had to teach who all of the characters were though.
