This past weekend, I went to Atlanta with my mom and her friend, Mary. We went to see Fran and also to see Come Fly With Me, Frank Sinatra's music with Twyla Tharp's choreography. Matt met Kate and Jill at the Pumpkin Festival on Sunday and Kate had a great time doing the activities, but I hear she was most interested in the live band.

Kate went apple-picking with Jill and Mimi last weekend. Rumor has it that Jill got stuck...and then fell out of a tree, but I wasn't there to witness. Kate enjoyed the picking of ahhhhples and will really enjoy Apple Fest next month.
They made her work, but this seems to be the face of a happy girl!
I am sure there is something symbolic about a picking an apple off a tree...and a girl...can't put my finger on it though! :-)
the flicker of the (lame) campfire

As things change, many remain the same. For this past weekend, traditional campfire songs were replaced by dumb skits and non-campfire songs. The tradition that was kept and performed by past LTs was canoe drill. We had a practice after chapel and the ending of the campfire was the performance. Matt video taped it, but I will not bore those who are not excited about 13 minutes of "dots" moving on the lake with the video.
Tell me, were you ever nearer
to the land of heart's desire?
Than when you sat there dreaming
with your friends around the fire.
gala and after
Though I thought the sport coat option for males and pantsuit option for women was silly, we still played the part and behaved well to receive Legacy awards, eat the festive dinner, and watch amazing fireworks. Afterward, my husband got a little frisky with Ady. Too bad he could be her sister! I love this girl!
bad parenting
After crafting, Kate repeated "night, night" no fewer than five times. Due to the fact that she was sleeping for 10-12 hours each night, I thought she must be crazy and told her we would leave after lunch. This picture was taken on Camp Lincoln Road before getting to Nashway. The distance? Less than one mile. Not winning that award this year again, dang it!
