Birthday Wishes

28 March 2010

Last night, during UK's poor performance in the NCAA tournament, I asked Kate if she would let me video her singing for a friend's birthday. She said yes (and I know that Yes doesn't always mean yes). We went in the kitchen and did an impromptu rendition of "Happy Birthday." She got a little lost on the name (I can't blame her since on PBS they say, "Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday") and then she felt it should be her song, but in the end, I was super proud that she did the whole thing -- and let me tape it! We have watched it several times (her request) and now I realize how southern my sweet Kate sounds.

the many faces of Kate when snacking

Drake is not in the picture, but I bet you can guess where he is standing.

the grass is not always greener

On the other side of the fence.
Upset that she is not on the other side of the fence (and it could have something to do with her foot being stuck, she thinks, in the fence).
Nevermind...I will play in the yard.

rainy Sunday

21 March 2010

Putting the "poisoned apples" on just right. Several had to be moved around...and Kate ate parts of three while working.
She has to sample a few of the decorations each time she puts them on the cupcakes. This is no quick shake...lots of work goes into each creation...like 30 minutes to decorate 10 cupcakes!
A slight spill of the yellow "crowns" prompted me to want to help. "Don't touch it," said Kate. We hear this a lot!

Making "princess" cupcakes was fun. Again, not so much for my hips as I must eat all that are not decorated. Kate loves sprinkling the "stuff" on the top. She picked these out at the grocery this week and could not wait to make the cupcakes.

Today was the first inter-squad softball game. Carri Crisp, a senior player, gave Kate a shirt that she is to wear for support. It was a little cool when we got there, but it was nice when the sun was out. Kate enjoyed watching the game and then REALLY enjoyed the attention the girls gave her. They even danced to "moo moo cow" with her after playing pitch. Sweet girls!

I am not ready for this. I am not ready for this.

Happy Birthday Flowers

Matt and Kate know how I love to get flowers at school!

SickGirl and her Ez (and Ducky)

16 March 2010

This is how Kate spent the morning. Unfortunately for Ezra, this is also how he spent the morning because Kate had him pinned with her leg. Once again, Kate has an unknown virus which is creating a temperature of 103.7 as the high and who knows as the low. I am being vigilant to do the every-three-hours Tylenol/Motrin treatment plan. Yet another urine cath for the poor thing and we are awaiting results. She is being a "good" sick girl and even has an appetite this time. That makes for a better kid, too!

no longer MY iPhone

11 March 2010

After downloading 15 apps to my iPhone for Kate, we now "share." A lot more than I like. My phone is full of pictures like this -- built from the Monster Face Maker. She LOVES her games. I loved my phone.
