We have had a spectacular August, for the most part. The weather has been a tremendous help, because finally we can go outside. Matt has gone back to principal-ing, so we are establishing a routine at home. Jack is coming around to a schedule himself. He usually sleeps through the night and then we get a little time together in the morning before miss Kate makes her morning entrance. We have had an enjoyable time during the days and this is proven by the fact that I have only posted ONCE in August! Here are some of the happenings...
When I water the plants each morning, I have a helper strapped on in his Baby Bjorn. He loves to ride around, and he likes to stick his fingers, ever so slightly, in the water from the hose. If I don't watch it, we are both a little wet when we finish this job.
Sometimes, we get Kate up. She doesn't think this is so fun at first, and now that Jack rolls to both sides, Kate is totally vulnerable to hair pulls, grabs, and so is anything else within reach!
When Jack goes down for his morning nap, Kate and I have some play time. This day was "do-the-hair" day. Mine was first. It is tough to do Kate's hair unless she has just showered, because the curls are so crazy it pulls. I, fortunately, have a tough scalp (notice how I did not say "hard head), so she can do most anything to mine. She wanted to take a picture of it.
After naptime, we spend some quality time outside. Jack is a big fan of the swing, and he doesn't mind that it is pink. Neither do we!
Kate is a big help on making sure the swing stays, well, swinging. She is there to give a quick push most times.
The tobacco came in sooner this year thanks to a drought from HELL. The guys had to spike it in super heat for two days (I think I have the right term), but they had a break while hanging it in the barn. Kate and I wanted to take a picture of how tall it was.
As mentioned, Jack can roll. And he does. He also has a death grip on anything he grabs. This time it was after his bath and the victim was the veggie bowl on the table. By the way, all of those tomatoes are out of my garden!!! Next year, I will be able to say squash, too.
One (random) day, Kate said she didn't feel well. It wasn't consistent, but for my girl to be asleep on the couch, something was wrong. She had a couple of days of tummy aches and general sluggishness and was then back to normal. Whew! I always get anxious when she doesn't feel well due to her early days of sickness.
Jack still naps in his cradle in the downstairs bedroom because we have air conditioning on the main floor. He likes to wedge himself in the corner, too.
Kate has been helping me feed Jack. She is such a great big sister.
Putting her cheerleading moves into a cheer for camp!
Just a swingin'
Another helper for watering. This one also can get us wet if we don't watch out!
My happy guy.
These were Kate's jammies, and she loves for him to wear them and always wants a picture of him in the jammies, because they were hers.
Hanging out on the porch in the morning. When you live on a farm, there is no dress code.
We took a trip to Dunkin' Donuts when we were in town at Mom's one day. Jack in the stroller and Kate on her bike. The sidewalk made her nervous because of the cracks and bumps, so she ditched the bike at the funeral home and walked to DD. All I can say is that I am glad it is a DD and not Krispy Kreme because it was an easy walk there. (And none of us like their donuts as much).
Happy Baby (again)
