the weekend, part two

24 August 2011

Saturday afternoon, our house went under contract. Since we don't have any place that we want to move right now, and we are to be out in close to a month, we are going to live at the white farm house while we decide what to do. Sunday morning we went out there to see what it looked like, since it has been quite time since I had been in the house. After seeing it, we went up to see Amy, Jeb, and Dan. Kate enjoyed the swing set and all that farm life had to offer...until she tripped on the driveway and fell. An hour late, I decided we were going to the ER because I thought there was something wrong. Turns out...she broke BOTH bones in her forearm. The sling/splint? No so comfy (but french fries helped).

The next morning was still about propping. We did not know how long the splint would be on but anticipated it would be a few days because of the swelling of the arm. We were lucky the doctor got her in Monday afternoon to put her cast on.

Such a good patient, Kate laid down and waited for her pink cast to be put on. The doctor then squeezed her arm to put the bones back together, hoping this will allow healing without surgery. The x-ray after this showed they were back together (and barely noticable). We will be going back in next week for another x-ray to check out the heaing.

Kate wanted her cast to have hearts, so I painted them on, along with a few rhinestones on the hand. She hardly acts like there is anything wrong, other than it being her right hand. Sweet girl!

Our hearts are saddened with the break, but she looks like a PRINCESS with that fancy cast.

Bless her sweet heart. I hope she is on the mend and not letting the break slow her down!!!
